When renowned actress Michelle Yeoh came in contact with Richard Mille through Jean Todt, they discovered a mutual passion for watches which led to a professional collaboration between them. Stunned by her artistic talents, knowledge and understanding of women’s tastes, he suggested her to create and design a specific women’s watch. Michelle Yeoh took up the offer and worked with Melanie Treton-Monceyron, Artistic director of Richard Mille to create the elegant RM 051. Her Malaysian influences guided her to pick the Phoenix as the symbol to adorn the watch, owing to its grace, feminine beauty and strength. The Phoenix is said to represent five human qualities namely: head for virtue, wings for duty, back for justice, chest for goodwill and its belly for reliability.
