DIOR RESORT 2012 : ALITTLE BIT PEDESTRIAN

When I say “pedestrian,” I mean it in both literally and figuratively. So far, the most covetable Dior Resort 2012 shoes are the ones with low wedges or flat heels; you could walk all day on them while on vacation, a nod to the inspiration of the season. But they also look like the work of a brand with a different price point than that normally associated with the storied French design house.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see these shoes retailing for $250 to $400, which is a problem for a brand that certainly plans to charge a much higher price. But when some of these flat sandals get marked down, I’ll be at Saks, ready and waiting. A few more pictures after the jump .

DIOR HOMME STUNS WITH GOLD 01 AVIATORS

Fine piece of accessory this one – the Gold 01 by Dior Homme. It is a tribute to the classic gold aviator. As is typical of everything unique and classy, only 50 of the Gold 01 sunglasses will be made. These are handmade by Dior’s Japanese ateliers and boasts solid 18k gold. Maybach had launched exclusive shades in the past stunning opulent shoppers, amongst whom are global paparazzi favourites such as Victoria Beckham and the likes.

SEE INSPIRATION DIOR'S SPRAWLING MUSEUM EXHIBIT

Tuesday night saw the opening of “Inspiration Dior,” a sprawling, ambitious new exhibit at Moscow’s Pushkin Museum, in which over 12o couture looks from the house’s history are shown alongside the very “paintings and photographs that have inspired its designers,” like Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano and the man himself. Artists shown include Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Man Ray, Gustav Klimt, and more.WWD was there, along with the almost-eerily-flawless Natalia Vodianova and everyone else of huge influence in the fashion industry (like Mr. Arnault, of course). Here are the photos.

CHRISTIAN DIOR WEDDING

We must mention though that these creations here can aonly fit and flatter the off the beat contemporary brides who are only interested in wearing something purely sophisticated and unconventional at the wedding. There is no doubt that these Christian Dior wedding dresses here are quite whimsical, unusual and not so very popular for “standard” regular weddings. Perhaps these pieces here can only suit the bride with high expectations and weird preferences when it comes to dresses. And we say this because this spring season bridal collection consists in lots of funky, wild and extravagant highly colored gowns which resemble the old glamour and chicness of the bygone ball gown era

Christian Dior is surely a master and a genius when it comes to creating extravagant, pompous and yet very voguish and exquisitely refined gowns for celebrities and for women from all corners of the globe. We must admit that we are not that surprised to see that he actually released this precious one of a kind collection now

DIOR JOAILLERIE’S VICTOIRE DE CASTELLANE TAKES A TRIP

Dior Haute Joaillerie designer Victoire de Castellane is known for her candy-colored, vibrantly trippy creations. (As she revealed in our video shopping trip with her, she gravitates toward mushrooms—presumably for accessories only.) Her new project, done under her own name and separate from her Dior endeavors, mines all of the hallucinogenic allusions from her earlier work to create complete pharmacopeia.

Fleurs d’excès—that’s “Flowers of Excess”—is inspired by the mind-altering and intoxicating drugs. The fine jewels (prices on request—in other words, stratospherically high) will debut at Gagosian Gallery’s Paris Project space during the Fall collections. The pieces, in gold and silver inlaid with rubies, diamonds, jade, rhyolite, and more, go on view to the public March 2 through March 22

FASHION WEEK HANDBAGS: CHRISTIAN DIOR SPRING 2011

I can’t remember the last time I was excited for a Dior bag collection, but ladies (and gents), I’m excited about Christian Dior Spring 2011.

Perhaps it’s because John Galliano stepped away from the patrician well that he had been mining for the past year or two, or maybe it’s just the residual effect of staring at so many bright colors over the past week, but it seems to me that Dior finally has turned the page on the bland, predictable bags that we’ve seen from the Parisian label in recent seasons..

Spring 2011′s bags mark a return to exuberance and spirit that had been lacking lately, and Galliano managed to put even the unchanged leather Lady Dior bags in a new context with this florid, tropical collection.

DIOR MAKES VEGAN SHOES FOR NATALIE PORTMAN

I always think it's wonderful to see big name brands and talented designers rising to the challenge of working with animal-friendly materials, and support any attempts to break the myth that leather is the only 'quality' fabric for shoes.

As far as I'm concerned, Stella McCartney is a legend. So it was really heartening to see that Dior had responded to Natalie Portman's pleas for vegan footwear in her campaign for Miss Dior Cherie perfume.
The fashion house created a pair of vegan heels especially for Natalie, which she wears in promotional material for the scent.

LIV TYLER GOES RAW FOR GIVENCHY VERY IRRESISTIBLE L’INTENSE

While other actresses are barely recognizable in certain campaign such as Marion Cotillard for the latest Dior Ad. Liv Tyler appears natural for the Givenchy Very Irresistible L’intense ad campaign.

“There’s something quite raw about it” said Tyler of the ads for the scent, which will hit counters worldwide in March. “I feel unafraid of exposing myself and the woman I am today, complicated and interesting and intense.”

Tyler started to represent Givenchy in 2003 with youthfull image, she is now merging into a more mature direction appearing  more rock’n roll in the new ad shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, two new black-and-white ad images feature Tyler in black rocker-chic attire,  including leather pants and studded black bracelets, from the fall 2010 Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci ready-to-wear collection.
